#1233 – How to successfully uninstall Taxi booking

Hi Kanev,

We're using your component "Taxi booking" 3.10.7 version, and we bought the new one "pkg_taxibooking_4.1.6.zip" version 4.1.6.

I just want to know how do I successfully uninstall the 3.10.7 in order to install the new one.

I spot that the component has many plugins like : ( System - Taxibooking Schedules, System - Taxibooking App, Taxibooking - Paypal payment, Taxibooking - PayFast8, Taxibooking - Cash payment )

and I don't want to break something or mess up, that's why I'm asking for help.

Hi,

First thing you must have to do is getting a complete backup of your whole website. Then, you can use LIVE UPDATE button on TaxiBooking dashboard to get the latest version or you can directly install the new package from Backend -> Extensions -> Manage -> Install panel. Your current TB is very old, so the best thing you can do is to uninstall the current TaxiBooking from Backend -> Extensions -> Manage -> Manage screen. But, this Uninstall will not remove few database tables, so after uninstalling TaxiBooking, please access your database and remove all _taxibooking_ tables from database. Then, you can have a fresh install of TaxiBooking 4.1.6.

Thanks for your reply.

You need to update your online manual as it does not have "Uninstall" section that quotes that one needs to delete all taxi booking tables from db.

I walked through that step alone but I got a tiny little issue at the end.

I successfully uninstalled the current Taxi Booking component and installed the new one...
but curiously after installing the new one, I noticed that the Taxi Booking sent an email to all the clients !!!

Uninstalling an extension means you don't want to have that extension at all, its just a simple one-click uninstall process from backend, so no tutorial is needed to uninstall an extension. Uninstalling TaxiBooking will not remove Orders table as company may need old orders data, but as you are uninstalling from a very old version, there are a lot of changes in Order tables. This is why, I told you to remove the old orders table as it seemed you did not need old orders. Usually, this case is very rare and all our clients keep recent updates.

About sending emails to all clients, those email might be related to Order archival process which is controlled by TaxiBooking Schedules plugin, but as you removed Orders table, so there should not be any order to be archived and hence no archive email should be sent to client. If possible, please send us the email body so that we can check also.

Finally, please keep updates of TaxiBooking as we always release important bug fixing and new features.
