#488 – Don't show Drop off category

 Hi,
There is something that can be confusing and anyway it is unnecessary in the booking form.
I have set up two POI categories and only use Special Routes. The booking form starts by asking the Pick up Category, which is correct. But, since there is no possibility of choosing a different Drop off category (and it is ok because it doesn't make sense) Why the customer needs to enter the Drop off Category?
It is time consuming and I already have people asking questions what is this field, why they should enter it, etc.
This field is really unnecessary. Is it possible to not show it? I've tried changing various paremeters in Edit General Settings but couldn't find a way of making it disapear.

Hi Jay,
it may not make sense to you if you only have 2 POI Categories but imagine our clients who have dozens of POI Categories with hundreds of POIs in each Category and there is no Drop off Category selection - there will be hundreds of POIs to select a Drop off from which is very inconvenient.

Those clients actually commissioned Category drop down selection feature and we have added it to Taxi Booking. If there is anything that you require as custom development please submit your requests at http://kanev.com/development/taxi-booking. Please remember that Taxi Booking was not developed bespoke for your needs.

I know Taxi Booking was not developed for my needs and I have no problem saying again that it is a great application. But that is not an obstacle to express my oppinion which in this case is: if we can make something in order to avoid clients from entering more fields than the necessary, its better.
Your answer got me confused and if you would like to answer me always assuming I am criticising you we could have a productive conversation.
The point is: It is not possible to select a drop off category different from a pick up category, or is it?
I think sometime ago you told me it is not possible.
If it is not possible I can't understand why the clients you refer commissioned the Category drop down selection feature if they just have one more field to fill in with no other option than the same they entered above.
For this case it is irrelevant having two POI categories or thousands of it, if you only can select for drop off the same that you have selected for pick up. The selection is already made, why force the client enter it?
Or am I missing something?

Hi Jay,
I have never said that Drop off category can be only the same as Pick up category - maybe that is in your case because you have Tours and Golf packages as far as I remember. And Special routes only contain POIs from Tours category or POIs from Golf category and you don't mix them.

However, if you have different POI categories like Airports, Towns, Cruise ports, Post codes, Landmarks etc. you can have Pick up category Airports and Drop off Category Post codes (or any other POI category).

We have no problem with feedback and even criticism and we are always open to new suggestions and add new features and improvements to Taxi Booking all the time. I was just trying to explain that some requests will be paid requests that must be funded separately (by you or multiple interested parties in our crowd funding Development section). We also have a road map of development and add features on "first come first serve basis" from the future requests funded in our Development section.

Thank you for your answer but it still don't understand the difference. I have two Poi categories, yes: airport/city transfers and golf transfers.
Are you saying that if I call them Airports and Towns I could select a drop off category different from the pick up category?

Ok, let me try to explain better.
You have 2 POI Categories Airport/City transfers and Golf transfers and each category has it's own POIs. Eg. Airport transfers have Airport 1, Airport 2, Hotel 1 and Hotel 2. Golf transfers have POIs Hotel 3, Hotel 4, Golf course 1 and Golf course 2.
When you create your special routes you create:
Airport 1 to Hotel 1
Airport 1 to Hotel 2
Airport 2 to Hotel 1
Airport 2 to Hotel 2
All above POIs belong to Airport/City transfers POI Category.
And Special routes
Hotel 3 to Golf course 1
Hotel 4 to Golf course 1
Hotel 3 to Golf course 2
Hotel 4 to Golf course 2
All these POIs belong to Golf transfers POI Category.
So both Pick up and Drop off POIs belong to the same POI Category and you think that Drop off POI selection is an extra click.
But if you add another Special route:
Airport 1 to Golf course 1 these POIs belong to different categories, then after Pick up category selection Drop off category selection will show both Airport/City POI category and Golf POI category.

Now I understand. I was thinking just in terms of the pairs belonging to the same POI Category. Yes, as it is possible to define pairs belonging to different categories, the drop off category is necessary.
